Johan Buys

Director

Meet Johan, the passionate hoof trimmer and co-founder of The Hoofman!

Johan grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Africa, where his lifelong dedication to animal welfare started. He pursued studies in animal health, working in veterinary services for eight years before turning to dairy farming, where he managed high-input systems for another eight years, including in New Zealand. Since founding The Hoofman with his wife in 2014, Johan has devoted himself to delivering exceptional service with his 14 years of hoof trimming expertise, specializing in treating lame cows.

Outside of work, he enjoys family time, exploring nature, hunting, and fishing.

PJ

PROFESSIONAL HOOF TRIMMER

PJ first joined The Hoofman in 2018, and after spending a few years pursuing other opportunities, we were excited to welcome him back to the team in 2025.
With a passion for hoof trimming and a keen eye for detail, PJ takes great pride in every cow he works with. He’s a perfectionist who genuinely cares about doing the job right, making him a trusted hoof trimmer and an invaluable part of The Hoofman team. His positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help wherever needed make him a favourite among both our team and our clients.
When he’s not on the farm, PJ is a devoted family man, a rugby fanatic, and a keen hunter who loves spending time outdoors.
We’re proud to have PJ on the team. His dedication, loyalty, and commitment to excellence embody everything The Hoofman stands for.

Christien Buys

Accounts and Office Manager

Meet Christien, our Co-Founder and meticulous Office and Accounts Manager!

As a skilled bookkeeper, Christien ensures everything runs smoothly and accurately, bringing a dedication to customer service that keeps The Hoofman clients supported and informed. When she is not in the office, she enjoys sewing and crafting, where her creativity shines.

Stock and Shop Coordinator

Meet Janetta, The Hoofman’s Stock and Shop coordinator. She ensures the online shop runs seamlessly and that all our trimmers are well-stocked with the supplies they need to provide a top-notch service. Janetta’s attention to detail is essential to our operations. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, cycling, and engaging in various crafts.
